That's good, but size increases will still be a risk (depending, of
course, on how intelligent and specialized the original postscript
producer was). It does not change the principle that "I want to
flatten my page descriptions to sequences of basic drawing operations"
should be as orthogonal to "I want to change the order of pages" as we
can make it.
The point in bug #159888 about psmerge being a horribly brittle kludge
and ought to be superseded by a ghostscript wrapper is well made, but
that does not mean that the same point applies to, say, psselect or
psnup.
