This strikes me as ironic, considering that you are attempting to hold Ubuntu to a standard which has not been met by many prominent Debian derivatives over the years. I don't know whether your opinions about Ubuntu have a personal or professional basis, but if there is work to be done to improve this situation, its scope is well beyond Ubuntu, and we would do well to avoid finger-pointing and conspiracy theories in favor of considering it in a more general context. I have myself, in Debian capacity, had to chase down developers of Debian derivatives in order to obtain patches from them in any form other than a sprawling diff relative to a much older Debian package. The fact is that Ubuntu has proactively contributed a lot of code back to Debian, much more than most Debian derivatives have. I see no reason why claims that Ubuntu is not doing _enough_, or making it easy _enough_ for Debian to merge its work pales in contrast to the fact that many other organizations have done, and are doing, nothing whatsoever in this regard. The level of suspicion that has been directed at Ubuntu in this regard is completely out of proportion. -- - mdz -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
