I understood from Glenn's email that this was already discussed at some 
time somewhere.

If I should have been able to find this specific email as an official 
statement of Debian, where is the link from some locations at 
www.debian.org (or a similar place) to it?

If you call people who don't know about it a troll you should ensure 
that it's documented at the places where you'd expect to read it.
