It's just Not The Way It Works(tm)

Nobody will assign you some work 'just so' - if you want to contribute, 
think about what do *you* think could be better in Debian?  How would you 
do it?  Then, find people (or the right mailing list) who do some work in 
that area (if you don't find the right place, a question to this list is 
o.k.) and work with them.

That said, if you just have some spare time and want to do something for 
Debian, fire up your web browser and browse Debian's bug data base on 
<http://bugs.debian.org>.  Bug fixing help is always welcome. If you're not 
sure what you should do with a particular bug, you can always ask on the 
#debian-bugs or #debian-devel IRC channel on irc.debian.org.
