appending "64" to the 32-bit name, for another.
No Debian tool depends on s/32/64/ or s/$/64/. As for me, I type "ppc"
instead of "powerpc" very often, even though I should know better by now.
In light of these facts (OK, the last one is a bit spurious, but still),
please justify asking Andreas for a strong justification. ;-)
