By my vague (secondhand) understanding of Hurd translators, it shows up
as a regular filesystem tree--so any tools can be used, not just GNU tools.

(Putting "GNU" there reminds me vaguely of the back of a shampoo container:
"After shampooing with Pantene(tm) Shampoo, follow up with Pantene(tm)
Conditioner, Pantene(tm) skin cleanser, ...")
