Package: libapache2-mod-python
Version: 3.1.3-3
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: renders package unusable

The version of libapache2-mod-python causes apache2 to hang when requests from
python scripts - both cgi (.py) and mod_python (cgihandler, psp and publisher)
when requests are made to the request object (req). According to
http://www.modpython.org/ there are severe memory leaks in mod_python < 3.2.10.

I have backported libapache2-mod-python (3.2.10-3) from Sid and installing this
version solves all errors.

I suggest an immediate backport from Sid to sarge.

A memory leak alone doesn't explain the software hanging; and it appears no
one else has reported this bug in the year and a half since sarge was
released, so I question the severity of this bug. There's also nothing
security-related reported here.

That's not going to happen, it's contrary to Debian's policy for stable
updates. In any case the bug apparently doesn't exist in etch or sid, so
I'm marking it closed in the corresponding version.

Thanks,
