Thank you. I can reproduce your problem with your file. Unless just waiting for the user to call dpkg-reconfigure ddclient is considered as "asking", ddclient seems to violate the requirement "These scripts [...] must not overwrite or otherwise mangle the user's configuration without asking [...]".
