Trixie DI RC1 does boot via UEFI so there's hope. However, I have no
idea of what change makes RC1 succeed where December's Alpha didn't.

D-I Alpha1 used GRUB 2.12-5 and D-I RC1 uses GRUB 2.12-7, which is the
version you reported this bug against, includes a number of security
fixes and has been used in D-I weekly and daily builds for a couple of
months. But I do not seen any change related with your issue.
