I guess one could try to look at what it actually returns, comparing 4.037 (old API/ABI) with 4.041 (new API/ABI?), for the "string" return type, I think. And for the float return type just in case, I suppose. This change in p5-DBD-mysql broke amavisd-new in Gentoo, Debian, FreeBSD and Fedora.
