It contains more than things related to configuration. Anyway, in any case, a maintainer script must not modify user files for whatever reason, even if they are purely config files. The fact is that Firefox (the application, not the package) entirely manages this profile (and this happens when the user runs Firefox, not when some package is upgraded on the system).
