I do wonder what it's doing with all that memory in the latter case!

Meanwhile, automatic builds are still failing, because they don't cover
the architecture-independent -doc package:

  cp -a debian/tmp_tests/*
/«BUILDDIR»/python-biopython-1.63+dfsg/debian/python-biopython-doc/usr/share/doc/python-biopython-doc/
  cp: target
'/«BUILDDIR»/python-biopython-1.63+dfsg/debian/python-biopython-doc/usr/share/doc/python-biopython-doc/'
 is not a directory
  make[1]: *** [override_dh_installdocs] Error 1
  make[1]: Leaving directory `/«BUILDDIR»/python-biopython-1.63+dfsg'
  make: *** [binary-arch] Error 2

Would you like a separate formal report for that problem?
