Hello, Sadly I am not very familiar with the Debian/Ubuntu package release process. I haven't had other contact with Debian/Ubuntu users apart from tickets logged in trac.
The only fix in 0.8.2 which may be important is #109 (http://simpleid.koinic.net/trac/ticket/109), where the relevant patch is at http://simpleid.koinic.net/trac/changeset/567/svn. This is essential for those running PHP on SAPI. There are a couple of other fixes which are slightly less important.
