just tried to build again (up to date sid chroot via cowbuilder on amd64
box) -- went just fine. Is it reproducible for you?

Any peculiarities of the system where it failed?
- architecture (kfreebsd's would lack functional multiprocessing)
- free space under /tmp
- network access?
- anything from experimental?
- avail /dev/shm?
