This is a static object initialization issue that I had seen on the Mac after releasing 1.15.8. It hadn't affected any of the other systems I had tested on, but apparently it "works" on debian 64 bits, for which I have no platform to test on. Hopefuly, the attached patch should fix the problem, it brings 1.15.8 to the current state of the 1.15 maintenance branch. I couldn't test it on debian, but it does fix the issue on the mac.
