I've a 2.6.32 kernel from the repository.
Neither m-a nor make-kpkg seem to invoke CC, hence rt2570 is not built.
I've tried with kernel headers and kernel source installed. Kernel
sources
compile successfully, I'm using the image compiled locally from the
distribution's config.
invoking make from the driver source folder produces:

There is no 2.6.32 kernel in stable - and rt2570-source only exists in
stable. This combination thus isn't supported, and as Ben pointed out,
there is a successor fo the kernel driver. I am thus closing this
bugreport so it won't stable open as outstanding on the stable bug
report list.
