I must say that I am disappointed in the fix for this bug.

I've been intentionally disabling avahi on all my linux machines (let's
just say I'm not a fan of auto-discovery or avahi in general). the mDNS
portion of avahi really causes me problems with my wireless networks.
When an IP address doesn't get leased from my DHCP server for whatever
reason, mDNS tries to auto-assign an address, and wastes a lot of time
during link-state negotiation with an address I never wanted to begin
with, and fails anyway. This wastes a lot of my time.

I've tried removing avahi, but many packages I use claim to be dependant
on it. Are they really? I doubt it.

Why is padevchooser "dependant" on avahi? Why should libpulse-browse0
be dependant on avahi? Speaking for others who run their own dhcp and
dns servers, no thank you. I don't want it. If there is no valid
network present, then let pulse use the loopback address or no network
at all, instead of bombing out. Please.

Avahi is supposed to simplify networks, not complicate them, but it has
done nothing for me but cause me heartache, and make me consider using
more WinDoze boxes again. I wish avahi were not a dependency of any
package, because I would LOVE to scrap it from every one of my systems.

Please take this into account in future versions of pulseaudio.

Thank you!
