To the bug submitter: it might be useful if you provide configuration files from your /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and printers.conf files...
On my side, I can't reproduce this bug at all and I'd recommend setting its severity to "important" as the package is not broken for everybody. Have you tried *purging* the package and reinstalling it from scratch (preserver the contents of /etc/cups first !) ? If *that* works you could then try to put your config files back in place and, again, try reproducing the bug. What puzzles me in the debug log you sent is: read(5, "/usr/lib/cups/cgi-bin/printers.cg"..., 1023) = 54 time(NULL) = 1223728808 an "i" letter seems to be missing there... (please keep me CC'ed to answers) --
