Hello, is there any reason *not* to make the build dependency versioned? I think this would be the proper version. Especially if people rebuild the package locally. Also I think it is not good practice to "If it gets built on all architectures then we don't have to worry about it." Slower or overloaded architectures should not be used in "trial and error". And finally, I think this would avoid you spurious bug reports.
