Package: cups-filters Version: 1.0.5-1 Followup-For: Bug #660348 Dear Maintainer,
The recent update of cups-filter did not solve my problem. It was hinted by Ubuntu bug 950713 that foomatic-filters 4.0.14 would solve this issue, but it has made it worse with the foomatic HL-5240 driver. The print job locks up the printer with all lights on the top panel flashing, no printout, and the only way to clear the printer is to remove power. After killing the print the printer started spitting spitting out blank sheets Upon power up. To solve that I had to remove power to the attached AXIS print server (setup as an LPD host). I had not used the foomatic filter prior to this as I had used the Brother supplied PPD for years without issue through many upgrades until the CUPS 1.5.2 "upgrade". Reverting to the original PPD I've used for years is still broken as I get the same result as with the Foomatic filters, which I need to clear the fault in the same manner. Recently the only driver that has worked in any manner has been the Generic PostScript Level 1 Printer Foomatic/Postscript1 driver. Since the foomatic-filters upgrade to 4.0.14 this driver does still generate the correct print output. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-686-pae (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages cups-filters depends on: ii fonts-liberation 1.07.2-2 ii ghostscript 9.05~dfsg-3 ii libc6 2.13-27 ii libcups2 1.5.2-8 ii libcupsfilters1 1.0.5-1 ii libcupsimage2 1.5.2-8 ii libfontconfig1 2.8.0-3.1 ii libgcc1 1:4.6.3-1 ii libijs-0.35 0.35-8 ii liblcms2-2 2.2+git20110628-2.1 ii libpoppler13 0.16.7-3 ii libstdc++6 4.6.3-1 ii ttf-dejavu 2.33-2 ii ttf-freefont 20100919-1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.6.dfsg-2 Versions of packages cups-filters recommends: ii colord 0.1.16-2 ii foomatic-filters 4.0.14-1 ii ghostscript-cups 9.05~dfsg-3 Versions of packages cups-filters suggests: ii foomatic-db-compressed-ppds [foomatic-db] 20120212-1 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
