The Gnuplot package has NOT been maintained in nearly a year and
half!
I'm dialing up the severity of this bug. Several packages like
Octave,
maxima, fityk, etc to name a few depend on this package.
And exactly which part of "makes the package in question unusable or
mostly so, or causes data loss, or introduces a security hole allowing
access to the accounts of users who use the package" matches your
description above? Please don't abuse release-critical severities.
