The fact that you think it's better to wait before taking action on this
bug doesn't mean the bug is less severe...

One question: since the bug was already there long ago (only buried
under a botched copyright notice), can you send a "found in version
very.first.that.hit.the.archives" to the BTS?
Would this allow new versions to propagate to testing (the RC bug is
*already* in testing, so the RC bug count will not increase with a new
version entering testing)?

IUUC, BTS version tracking makes this possible...
