It would of course be possible to improve curl's handling of this error by the caller. Personally I would favour having curl bomb out, but it would be possible for curl to encode the spaces. However, deciding what to do about this, and implementing it any resulting improvement, is not an activity that we intend to undertake in Debian, and we would not wish to apply a patch even if it were supplied to us. Under these circumstances it does not make sense for the Debian BTS to contain an open bug report for this feature request.
