I want NTP to only adjust time for the machine it is running on, not
provide any service to any externally connecting ntp client. How can I
configure NTP to not listen on every interface (this seems to be the
default), but provide ntp time adjustment for the local machine?

Shouldn't ntp simply use the default route for making outgoing
connecting, utilizing a random source port, this is how most daemons
operate.
