I am confident that it is not a typo - as it would also throw an error
on the earlier version of links.  A screenshot of the alert is
attached.

Only links2 fails, other browsers dillo, iceape, iceweasel, opera-next
and of course the ealier version of links all work as expected.

Since submitting the original bug report I have also raised one direct
with the authors together with strace logs for each of the browsers.

No, it is not used here.

This is a stock install of antiX-M11,other than using a liquorix
kernel, nothing fancy or unusual.  The issue has been present and
consistent from day 1.
