* I was using 4.6. Shortcuts were working fine. At some point, for no apparent reason, they simply stopped working. * I looked up the bug report referred to in my initial email. I followed the fix instructions there. That worked in 4.6. * I upgraded to 4.8.0.2 from the testing repository. The fix stopped working. In ~/.config/autostart/ the xfce4-settings-helper-autostart.desktop file, whose removal was the supposed fix, keeps getting recreated. * And finally no shortcuts set in XFCE's "keyboard" settings section work.
