Sure, but setting your locale to pt_BR.UTF-8 does not mean that you only write portuguese; why do you run a UTF-8 locale if you only want to display/input latin1 characters? Frankly, I believe that we should get rid of those bad habits, UTF-8 is there now and we have to take more characters into account. Denis
