well... i have now opened iceweasel (7.0b2) in safe mode, and... now it uses only about 124Mb (htop says). same tabs as before.

(yes, almost all of them are compatible with both versions. one or two of them, however, are not compatible with anything above 3.5, i think. i'm using the addon comatibility reporter to run them.). as i said, none of them cause trouble in iceweasel 5.0.
