Package: ftp.debian.org Tags: moreinfo Hi,
libwww5.808-perl came about a year ago to help with a transition: > There are other Perl packages depending on a now > removed functionality of the libwww-perl package. > This package helps with a transition of those > packages to the later version. It only exists in experimental. It has one reverse-dependency --- liblwp-parallel-perl --- which is a leaf package. So far so harmless. Unfortunately, it conflicts with and "Provides: libwww-perl". As Gregor Herrmann writes: > (BTW: I think the "Provides: libwww-perl" was a bit blunt and is > after the upgrade of the "real" lwp to 6.0 just wrong.) Indeed, this can cause the package to be installed to satisfy dependencies without a person explicitly requesting so, resulting in file conflicts that prevent upgrades --- Bug#623054 has details. No response from the maintainers after several months. Tagging moreinfo because if Richard or Steffen still cares about these packages then I'm okay with not removing them. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
