Another ld crash I got in 2004 was on a different machine from an entirely different network, though. But I don't know whether it was the same bug since gdb on this machine was showing an empty backtrace. I see that when I reported the bug, the machine was under OpenMosix (with at least a well-known pipe-related bug).
