I have the same problem on a fresh debian Wheezy install. Keyboard (tried with a USB one and a PS2 one) and mouse are not responsive at all. To get them working i need to unplug and replug; however ps2 keyboard doesn't work even if i unplug and replug it.
I also tried to add a "sleep 5" to /etc/init.d/gdm3 as suggested above but with no luck.
