I was updating a package with a SONAME bump and used dh_makeshlibs to generate a
symbol diff. Unfortunately I had used -tc, so everything was cleaned when I
re-ran
dh_makeshlibs to capture the diff. While that is an error on my part, I do
believe
dh_makeshlibs could check for the existence of tmpdir and error out if it does
not exist. At the very least, it should not run find on it.
