Package: madplay Version: 0.15.2b-7 Severity: important
madplay segfaults and dumps core at the end of each mp3-file I play. timo@spida ~/music/Unknown Artist/Unknown Album % madplay *.mp3 MPEG Audio Decoder 0.15.2 (beta) - Copyright (C) 2000-2004 Robert Leslie et al. >> Unknown Artist - 1 - Track 1.mp3 Title: Track 1 Artist: Unknown Artist Album: Unknown Album Track: 1/6 [1] 11953 segmentation fault (core dumped) madplay *.mp3 to reproduce: rec -r 44100 -b 16 -c 2 -n empty.wav trim 0:00 1:00 rec -r 44100 -b 16 -c 2 -n sine-sweep.wav synth 3 sine 300-3300 rec -r 44100 -b 16 -c 2 -n sine-300.wav synth 3 sine 300 wodim -audio dev=7,0,0 -dao -pad *.wav # replace devicename for cdwriter abcde -d /dev/scd0 abcde is configure with twolame (0.3.12-1 installed): LAME=/usr/bin/twolame LAMEOPTS="-b 256" OUTPUTTYPE=mp3 It should be examined whether the mp3s are in fact standard compliant. If not, a separate bug should be filed agains twolame. It does NOT matter for me whether the the mp3s are created on a 32bit or 64bit system. However, I was NOT able to reproduce the segfault/coredump of madplay on a 64bit system (with the same software and library versions). On request, I can attach and/or provide an mp3 that triggers this error. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.1 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-486 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages madplay depends on: ii libasound2 1.0.23-2.1 shared library for ALSA applicatio ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libesd0 0.2.41-8 Enlightened Sound Daemon - Shared ii libid3tag0 0.15.1b-10 ID3 tag reading library from the M ii libmad0 0.15.1b-5 MPEG audio decoder library madplay recommends no packages. madplay suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
