I am also experiencing exactly the same issue with LVM snapshots used for backup. This worked fine in Lenny but is very unreliable since upgrading to squeeze. You suggest upgrading but 2.02.66-5 IS the current version of lvm2 in Stable/Squeeze. Neither aptitude nor the Debian website indicate the presence of an update.
