Well, in
SYNOPSIS
       pppd pty 'pppoe [pppoe_options]' [pppd_options]

       pppoe -A [pppoe_options]

we see that just plain pppoe with no arguments is illegal.
So someone should add it to the SYNOPSIS, at least.
It wouldn't hurt to also mention what it does.
