Package: libneon24
Version: 0.24.7.dfsg-2
Severity: normal

libneon24 is compiled with the --disable-debug parameter. This apparently
means that setting ne_debug is completely ignored. Which in turn means
that the subversion recommendation to set neon-debug-mask (in
.subversion/servers) to debug client/server interaction issues is
ineffective for non-obvious reasons. (It was really only when I downloaded
the Debian source to libneon24 that I figured out what was wrong; prior
to that I spent a while trying to figure out why subversion wasn't
picking up the setting.)

It would be very helpful if there were a README.Debian file installed
with the libneon24 package saying something to the effect:

NOTE: This package is compiled with --disable-debug, which means you
will not be able to enable debugging/trace output in the neon library.
If you need this trace output please download the source to libneon24
and recompile the package.
