It is the default on Lenny any I have gotten this error on a fresh
installation on all of my six newly from Etch migrated intranet servers.
It happen with ALL new users including root.
I am myself was notaware of this problem, because I have a very huge
PRIVATE Syntax file, which mean, the file is in my NFS mounted ${HOME}.
There where some users which told me, that whenever they want to edit a
file, the error message popup.
Sorry, that I have reported this error very late, but I was not aware of
it.

Sorry, the error version is 2:4.6.2~git20080311-4
For some minutes I have upgraded my <vserver16> from Lenny to Squeeze
with version 3:4.7.0.9-1 and the problem is now gone.
It seems, the version 2:4.6.2-2 was a backport from you, du to testing
cause another bug. Was it for 1 1/2 years?

I have renamed my ~/.mc directory and now I have the same error.

Hey, it can not be, that I have to install 1700 empty ~/.mc/cedit/Syntax
files to suppress an error.
Note: I have migrated my customers Computers from Etch to Lenny too do
to the upcoming release of Squeeze.
