Hi! 

First, I don't understand how you could even get 2:4.6.2-2 installed on
your box. I think there must be something wrong with your apt
configuration. Check what is officially available for now:

http://packages.qa.debian.org/m/mc.html

Second, at that time I don't remember this ever happened to me. There
must be something wrong with your ~/.mc. What happens if you quit all mc
instances and do mv ~/.mc ~/.mc-old, then start mc anew to re-generate
the configuration from defaults?

Third, there is no chance anything gonna be fixed for 4.6.2 even if this
is a legitimate bug (which I doubt).
