That patch doesn't apply directly to Xpdf (it's a Poppler patch), but I
have already made a comparable change in Xpdf -- which will be in the
3.03 release.

I've added a new flag (xpdfrc setting) that allows users to turn off
FreeType hinting.  By default hinting will be on.  If (and only if) the
xpdfrc file includes the new setting, then the FT_LOAD_NO_HINTING flag
will be passed into FreeType.

I've had some users complain about problems with hinting.  It's rare,
but I've decided it's useful to let people turn off hinting if they
really want to.  Leaving hinting enabled as the default will hopefully
avoid the sorts of problems that jida...@jidanni.org has encountered.
