You're issue is that having DEBCHANGE_MULTIMAINT_MERGE=yes isn't
sufficient anymore and you now have to also pass it git-dch explicitly?
Do I understand that correctly?

P.S.: We can't simply pass on stuff to dch since we have to mess with
the options for the correct trailers etc.
