This tutorial refers to an old version of Xindy. This looks strage. You call xindy, but get a error message from xindy.v2. Did you really call xindy? What's the output of % which xindy % xindy --version > The second problem can be fixed by editing /usr/bin/xindy.v2 lines Xindy.v2 is obsolate and was removed from the package in version 2.4-1.
