Indeed, there must have been an error during the download. Everything works fine with a freshly downloaded tetex-base. After tetex-base was updated, there was no /var/lib/tex-common/fontmap-cfg/tetex-extra.list any longer. So I simply updated tetex-extra without any problems. I *think* this should also work when updating them at the same time, since tetex-base is handled before tetex-extra, but I am not sure. cheerio ralf
