Package: dvd+rw-tools Version: 5.21.4.10.8-gw-1 Severity: important Tags: patch
As already discussed in http://lists.debian.org/cdwrite/2005/06/msg00047.html (which also contains a link to the patch), growisofs fails to close a session on certain PIONEER DVD-RWs. In my case it's a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K15 1.00. The output of growisofs as shown when called from k3b is: /dev/hdb: "Current Write Speed" is 8.2x1385KBps. 0.10% done, estimate finish Tue Aug 16 17:50:43 2005 :-? the LUN appears to be stuck writing LBA=310h, retry in 70ms :-? the LUN appears to be stuck writing LBA=310h, retry in 70ms 0.21% done, estimate finish Tue Aug 16 20:16:45 2005 0.31% done, estimate finish Tue Aug 16 19:28:35 2005 0.41% done, estimate finish Tue Aug 16 19:04:19 2005 [...] 99.76% done, estimate finish Tue Aug 16 17:54:49 2005 99.86% done, estimate finish Tue Aug 16 17:54:50 2005 99.96% done, estimate finish Tue Aug 16 17:54:50 2005 Total translation table size: 0 Total rockridge attributes bytes: 16446 Total directory bytes: 0 Path table size(bytes): 10 Max brk space used 21000 490685 extents written (958 MB) /dev/hdb: flushing cache /dev/hdb: closing track /dev/hdb: closing disc :-[ CLOSE SESSION failed with SK=2h/ASC=04h/ACQ=07h]: Resource temporarily unavailable Applying the patch linked from the URL above fixes the problem. While issue has been discussed on-list before, I don't think a bug report was opened. Please mark this report a duplicate if I overlooked it.
