The first one is that I don't see the list as a real discussion list, but more like as a role alias with an easy way for people to join it. To that end, the archive is not strictly needed. Additionally, I'd like to preserve the list as a welcoming/friendly place (and all initial volunteers agree with that); if we are ever gonna get some trolling around, I'd like that not to be publicly archived and pointed out as "see how unfriendly they are". It is true that we might lose some past work in not having an archive, but I don't expect posters to check the archive anyhow, at optimum I want them to check *doc* first and I don't think the list archive should be a substitute for that (and not having it would help in not exchanging one for the other).
