An upstream contact has suggested that you change your config like so:

Set($LogStackTraces,'error');

Let me know if that logs anything interesting in the application
error logs (/var/log/request-tracker3.8) or in the error log of your
web server, or syslog, depending on how things are configured.

Since the code in question hasn't been touched since 3.8.2, we're at
a loss to explain the behaviour currently.
