It seems that the repository was created incorrectly: to browse it correctly, one has to access http://git.debian.org/?p=collab-maint/xpdf.git/.git instead of http://git.debian.org/?p=collab-maint/xpdf.git Similarly to clone the repository. Perhaps you didn't create a bare repository in alioth? This is very easy to fix. Another point: are you comfortable with the use of git-buildpackage? I just started using it some days ago (I am still a rookie with git), but I like it very much to keep the packaging part separated from the upstream sources.
