Dear Petter,

I encountered this message as well and was not certain what to do. The sheer number of packages listed (probably 15 or so in my case) is overwhelming and alarming. Reading the wiki helped me with the "removed but not purged packages" but did not help me with the warnings like "script 'K20upslog' missing LSB tags and overrides".

I have several suggestions.

1. The wiki reference could be at the top of the error message rather than the bottom. This would help the user to see right away that this is a known problem with a fix and not a severely broken installation.

2. It would be great if the install routine could offer to purge the packages for you. I'm not sure what this would entail.

3. I still have no idea what to do about missing LSB tags. I look at some of the files that do not receive this error and they appear to have extra fields, and I look at /etc/insserv/overrides and it is empty, so I have nothing to use as a model. My suggestion is that you either offer to fix the files (again, no idea what this entails) or that you provide very specific directions in the wiki.

Thank you.

Regards,

Bob McDonald
