Dear Kees!

I changed the mirror from ftp.at.debian.org to ftp.us.debian.org
did a
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get autoclean
sudo apt-get -f install
which removed the packages bsd-mailx mailx postfix
postfix-policyd-spf-python ssl-cert

Then, I tried to install postfix again, and still, at the very same position
I get a broken pipe:
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)

As I get the error always at the same stage, and even at the same substage
(one specific file in the openssl-blacklist-package), I would presume it is
not hardware-related, because that would probably lead to random errors.
Everything else works and installs nicely.

Is there anything more in a logfile or elsewhere that can point to the
problem? There is nothing more in /var/log/apt/term.log or in /var/log/dpkg.log

I tried a 10 minute CPU-stress test which completed ok, I tried an overnight
memory-test from a linux boot CD which completed ok.

is there anything more that I can try?
