I guess that you want to report a bug against your driver then (IIRC
X11-related packages have some bug scripts to collect interesting
data, that's why I'm not reassigning this bugreport right away).

I only use vesa very occasionally (mainly for debugging purposes), so
I never looked much into it, but it might just be limited.

I'm not sure about the proper course of action here. Lagging behind is
probably not a good idea anyway. And waiting for X stuff to improve is
basically what we've been doing for years; given I don't have much
hardware to test or run benchmarks, it's also difficult to draw the
line and decide when something's usable enough. :(
