Hi,
I think I got exactly the same problem.
It seems to be the fs detection routine for raid 1 mirrors...

As you can see my boot device is as well a raid(1) device.
running grub-probe against it with target fs generates an error, while running
the same aginst the physical devices is fine.
even file -s reports the correc filesystem-)
